Producer Portal guide

Back to Producer Portal

Welcome to the Producer Portal

This guide walks you through getting set up, creating your first listing, and finding your way around the dashboard. Your animals are sold live and processed under the USDA custom exemption, so listings always describe a live animal or a share of one, never finished cuts.

Getting Started

  1. 1Sign in to the Producer Portal using your OMF account.
  2. 2Pay the one-time $100 posting fee through Square, then tap "I've completed payment." OMF verifies it and unlocks your portal, usually within 1 business day.
  3. 3Build your farm profile — add your farm name, location, story, photos, and raising practices. It publishes to your public farm page automatically.
  4. 4Add your first listing and submit it for OMF review (see below).

Create Your First Listing

  1. 1In the Listings section, click "Add a Listing."
  2. 2Choose the animal type (cattle or hog) and whether you are selling a whole, half, or quarter live animal.
  3. 3Add a clear title, a short description of the live animal, and a couple of good photos.
  4. 4Set the ready-for-processing date, the quantity available, and the animal price.
  5. 5Submit. OMF reviews your listing (usually within 1 business day) and publishes it to the marketplace.

Tip: Use the "Generate description" helper to draft a warm, compliant listing description from your title and notes.

How Animals Go Live

Profile saves publish automatically. New and edited listings get a quick OMF review, then appear on the marketplace.

Tips for Success

  • Add honest, clear photos of your animals and farm.
  • Keep your ready-for-processing date accurate so buyers can plan.
  • Describe the live animal and how it is raised — never finished cuts or pounds of meat.
  • Share your farm page link to reach more buyers.
