Questions
Straight answers for lamb producers
When do I get paid?
When the buyer reserves your animal. They pay you directly through the Square link on your listing. OMF never holds your money.
Who processes my animals?
OMF processes lambs at our plant at 5009 Pendergras Rd in Fulton, MO for farms within 200 miles. Farther out, we book an OMF Verified Processor in your state, so you're not hauling across the country.
Can I list lambs before they're finished?
Yes. List from weaning to finished weight. Put the expected finish date and estimated weight on the listing so the buyer knows when it'll be ready, which helps a lot with holiday orders.
Do I have to sell the whole animal?
We recommend it. Whole-animal listings move faster and you never get stuck with an unsold half. Buyers who want less often split a whole with family or friends.
Can the buyer resell the meat?
No. Marketplace animals are sold live and processed under the USDA custom exemption, so the meat is for the buyer's own household and is marked Not for Sale. If you want to sell packaged meat under your own farm label, ask us about USDA-inspected processing.
What does it cost me?
New producers get their first 3 months of posting free. After that it's a one-time $100 posting fee. When an animal sells through the marketplace, there's a 10¢/lb program fee on hanging weight, paid at processing. No monthly fees.
I'm not in Missouri. Can I still join?
Yes. We're starting in Missouri and adding Verified Processors state by state. Sign up and list your animals, and we'll match you with a processor in your state.
